Becky’s Newsletter2022–2026PREVENTION IN PRACTICE
What prevention looks like in practice
Since 2022, Becky’s Button has been part of workshops and sessions across six countries — combining direct delivery with work led by partners and student teams.
Prevention is built through repeated work
Since 2022, Becky’s Button has been part of 37 workshops and sessions focused on violence against women and girls across six countries. Ten were delivered directly by Becky’s Button: five in the UK, one in Jordan, two in Pakistan and two jointly in Cyprus.
Other sessions were delivered by partners, including RDFL in Lebanon, When We Band Together in Lesvos, and student teams at the American University of Beirut.
Where attendance was recorded, the sessions reached around 900 people.
Different settings, a shared purpose
The format can vary — a workshop, an awareness session, peer-led activity or a student initiative — but the broader purpose is consistent: helping people recognise harmful behaviour earlier, supporting dialogue and creating opportunities for practical action.
The evidence base for the wider field supports approaches such as bystander interventions and healthy-relationships education. Those findings describe the field Becky’s Button works within; they should not be presented as direct evaluations of Becky’s Button’s own sessions.
Why we keep the distinction clear
Impact is not one number. Attendance shows reach. Participation shows engagement. Young people returning to lead work of their own shows progression. Organisations approaching Becky’s Button directly shows demand.
Keeping those measures distinct helps the charity communicate its work accurately and gives supporters a clearer picture of what prevention and early intervention can look like in practice.
